This month both Mayor Bill De Blasio and NYPD Commissioner William Bratton agreed to join NYBC’s Volunteer Leadership campaign. The Mayor will serve as Honorary Chair and will help promote blood donation throughout the five boroughs as well as oversee the New York City Employee Blood Program (NYCEBP). The NYCEBP is NYBC’s largest donor group with 42,000 donations annually. NYPD Commissioner Bratton will serve as Community Chair and will help oversee the NYPD blood program. The NYPD blood program resulted in more than 12,500 donations in 2013.
Volunteer Leadership garners support for NYBC at the highest levels of organizations. Through Volunteer Leadership we gain access to decision makers who can provide needed resources. Volunteer Leaders do more than open doors; they are New York Blood Center's top advocates. The program is a marquis of notable individuals who can influence others through leveraged and personal relationships. NYBC benefits from their reputation, power, resources, and credibility.
