The New York Yankees honored the top donating high schools at the annual High School Blood Drive Championship in June. The program began in 1995 and since then over 750,000 donations have been made by high school students with NYBC.
This year NYBC and the New York Yankees recognized North Hunterdon High School as the top donating school with over 1,200 donations during the 2012/13 school year. Dr. Charles Shaddow, Superintendent of the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District and Volunteer Leader, accepted the award.
NYBC awards hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships each year to high school students. Scholarships in the amount of $250 - $1000 are available, depending on the total number of blood drives per academic year and the total donations.
