New York, NY – With summer just around the corner – and the resulting school breaks and vacations that keep eligible blood donors away – The New York Mets are stepping up with a huge community blood drive Thursday, June 6, from 10am – 5 pm at Citi Field’s Caesars Club.
This Mets drive should add hundreds of pints to our community blood supply,” said NYBC Vice President Rob Purvis. “That’s especially critical at the start of summer, when schools let out and our regular donors start going on vacation.”
Each presenting donor will receive a pair of tickets to a New York Mets game, courtesy of the Mets.
The Mets have run two blood drives a year for the past decade, a critical partner in the effort to make sure that hospitals get whatever they need to care for their patients, who include trauma victims and those dealing with cancer and leukemia
“We couldn’t do what we do without organizations like the Mets,” said NYBC’s Purvis.
NYBC also offers special community service scholarships for students who organize community blood drives over the summer.
