Mike joined the executive leadership team at the New York Blood Center, Inc., as the Senior Vice President. Chief Administrative Officer, in April 2012. He is responsible for providing the leadership and oversight for several business functions including but not limited to Human Resources, Facilities, Real Estate, Engineering, Workers’ Safety and Emergency Preparedness Planning and Response. Mike also serves as NYBC’s Labor Counsel and is a member of NYBC’s Senior Leadership Team. Immediately prior to joining NYBC, Mike was a Managing Director with the Global Public Accounting Firm, Grant Thornton, where he served as a National Practice Leader and was a member of the firm’s National Not-for-Profit and Higher Education Cabinet. Mike has provided advice, support and leadership to businesses and business leaders (i.e., Boards, Executives, Consultants, etc…) at organizations from around the world and in a variety of industries. Mike’s clients and the organizations where he has served, as either an executive or a member of the board of directors, have ranged in size from $1M to $30B+ in annual revenues and with 50 to 25,000+ employees. Mike has served as a trusted adviser and leader on an assortment of different and unique issues from the areas of the law, human resources, board governance, business strategies, finance, real estate design, compensation program design, benefits administration, tax law issues, constitutional law issues and much more for more than a quarter of a century.
As a consultant and attorney his have clients included large complex religious organizations, institutions of higher education (including several Ivy League Institutions), major health systems, multi-billion dollar public corporations, international family owned businesses, global fraternal benefit organizations, religious orders and complex businesses of all sizes.
Mike is a frequently invited guest speaker at conferences across the U.S. on human resources, executive compensation, benefits administration and legal issues particular to the not-for-profit, health care, religious and higher education community.
Mike received his B.A. in Philosophy from Binghamton University, his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, his Masters of Arts in Pastoral Studies from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception and he was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre on May 14, 2011.
