Dr. Connie M. Westhoff, SBB, PhD, is the Director of Immunohematology, Genomics, and Rare Blood at the New York Blood Center. She has a PhD in Molecular Genetics and is considered an expert in the genetics of RH and in molecular testing for transfusion medicine. Her current research involves the application of genomics to improve transfusion in patients with Sickle Cell Disease with funding from the Doris Duke Foundation Innovations in Clinical Research.
Dr. Westhoff has served on numerous AABB committees including the AABB board of directors. She is associate editor of Blood Group Genomics for the journal Transfusion, an editor of the AABB Technical Manual, a National Blood Foundation scholar and recipient of the Katherine Beattie Award from the Michigan Association of Blood Banks and the John Elliott Award from AABB. She lectures nationally and internationally and has authored over 75 scientific articles and numerous book chapters.
